One thing I realize is that it is easy to say a thing, but another to stick with it and lead with compassion. As I begin to reflect on the last couple of weeks I realized how important it is to yield your heart to God. You may ask, why the heart? The bible says that the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it. Jeremiah 17:9 KJV
The heart includes a person’s desires, feelings and thoughts, it is the inner being. Oftentimes, it can lead to people turning to their own selfishness and devices than God’s righteousness. That is why it is even more important to open the door of your heart to allow Jesus to come in and transform you, cleanse you, and give you a new heart.
The Reflection
I was on my way to spend time with a loved one and being in traffic is not my thing especially during busy seasons. I initially wanted to cancel because I was looking at all that I had to do before the time I initially stated, but there was a strong pull to keep my word this time. By the way, keeping your promises to yourself and commitments is a great way to build your confidence, you are able to trust yourself in the things you said you would do.
Anyway, I was in traffic and I began to reflect on how sometimes it is easy to consider love as the verbal “I love you” statement. However, it is much more than that. I view love as action. The word of God, states that, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6:45 KJV This means that the things we do are from the abundance of our hearts.
This is also from the things we say when our nervous system is not regulated. For example, you are in a heated argument and the very thing you tried to suppress for years and years bubbles up and comes out. Those words can be forgiven, but not forgotten. That is why it is even more important to allow God to wash you with his words and purify your heart.

When God cleanses you and purifies you, it is easier to lead with compassion, it is easier to see through His lens because now He is backing you with His wisdom, insight and understanding. Your flesh and your ways are moved out of the way and you are leaning on His understanding to guide you in all of your ways.
I think about how He loved us so much that he gave His only begotten Son, that we may have an everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV We can now approach the throne of grace in His Son’s name, BOLDY. We are now co-heirs with Christ, ambassadors. It’s so beautiful, its sacrifice.
I think about that in our daily lives, how we have a decision everyday to choose compassion or hatred, hard-heartedness, or callousness. It’s a choice. When you open the door of your heart to God and he begins to mold and shape you, your eyes are more open to be led with compassion. I’m not saying it will be sunshine everyday, however you will have His peace in the midst of it and His understanding that will calm and quiet your spirit. I hope this has blessed you today.
