“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us .” Romans 8:18
Today, I decided to take my son to the park to work on his basketball skills and I was watching him play sitting on the bench. I checked my phone and saw a message from my son’s dad, that he wanted to speak to his son.
His dad had not called or checked on him all week and my initial reaction was to roll my eyes, but then I asked my son if he wanted to talk. So I called his dad and the call was literally five minutes of the generic, “hey, how are you” and a comment of him playing by himself which was not beneficial at all and changed my son’s countenance for a second. Then he said well call me again. As I walked to the car, I sat there and was like did his father really put the responsibility of calling on a five year old?
I took some time to go grocery shopping and then I had to talk with my son which prompted me to call his dad back to discuss parenting. I didn’t get a response. So when I got home and settled I sent a message with a proposed schedule that will provide more consistency with my son. Once I sent it, I needed to renew my mind so that this situation didn’t affect my day. The song, “Here’s My Worship” was in my spirit. I found it on Youtube by Phil Thompson, and I immediately began to worship and I began to yield everything to God, praying and giving everything to him, that He takes control of my life, that I am only a vessel that His spirit is leading my life. When I began to meditate on that, “I screamed, “For Your Glory God”, everything that I am presently enduring is for His glory. For him to be glorified and that I will overcome.
I will have a testimony that will set someone else free. The scripture Romans 8:18 came to me in the middle of worship, “my present suffering doesn’t compare to the future glory.” I cried and cried and read it out loud so that my mind is renewed. It is not about me, but for God’s glory. I’m here to encourage you, that what you are currently going through will pass. God will get the glory, and your present suffering will be used to set another free. You will be able to help them with your story. You will overcome it. You are an overcomer!
