How To Get Out of A Slump As A Single Mom

I don’t know about the other beautiful single moms out there, but raising a toddler is an enjoyable yet sometimes challenging journey. There was a moment where I realized that I’m always working, on the go, in a rush..no longer enjoying every single moment of the day. Motherhood is a beautiful assignment from the Lord. “Children are an heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward,” according to Psalm 127 KJV. God graciously gives us these gifts, our children, and it is important that we are good nurturers and stewards over them.

It can be easy to look at what we don’t have or who is not helping or ponder on the what ifs, but God is a faithful God. He knows what we can handle, He is a good good father. God will never leave us here alone, in our situations alone no matter how your situation may be, know that God knows and cares for you and will give you wisdom to raise your children. In Isaiah 66:13, “As one whom his mother comforts so will I comfort you.” God’s compassion for us will never fail. His love for us is greater than the love of a mother towards her child. So imagine the love you have for your children, God’s love is way beyond that. He cares for us and gives us divine assurance through His word, that we are in His hands and nothing or no one can pluck us out.

It is also important to know that God can use anyone to bless you, even the other parent. Oftentimes, we want to hold on to resentment or what someone has done, not knowing that God can turn the hearts of kings, He can remove the stoney heart from a person and give them a heart of flesh. Always be humble to receive from the Lord. As a single mom, I had to realize that God can use anyone to bring resources to me and that my heart posture has to be right before Him, that I may be open to receive who He sends to help me.

Once I began to really meditate on these things and renew my mind, I was able to make intentional steps towards stewarding over my child and creating memorable moments for us. We recently planned a weekend trip, and it was so exciting to see how much my son enjoyed the whole process of packing and traveling and exploring different places in a different state and even discussing with him his experience and what he enjoyed the most.
