Embracing Green Pastures

Motherhood is such a joyful journey. Yes, there are moments where you will want to hide, go for an hour walk and have a session of breathing exercises to calm your nervous system. That is totally okay, and from my experience, pretty normal. However, through it all, I want you to be reminded that embracing the green pastures of every moment in your journey will bring rest and peace to your soul.

Green Pastures

I took some time away from social media for a few weeks, and what I learned is that being present and active in your daily life is so important. We spend so much time scrolling and watching videos that we forget we actually have a life to live, things to do, kiddos to make new memories with.

I’ve realized that oftentimes, when we are aimlessly scrolling we are searching for something, something that will bring a laugh or relief. I had to ask myself, what is it that I need? There were things I was seeking understanding and enlightenment for and even working through in the depths of my soul, and I was reminded of this verse.

Psalm 23:2, “He makes me lie down in fresh tender green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.” AMPC

If you allow, and stretch out your hands, God will give you rest in His green pastures. There is provision, there is renewal, there is peace, there is calmness, there is an answer. When you choose to stop chasing, stop controlling, stop forcing an outcome, God will give you peace as if you are laying in a meadow, gazing at the sky, listening to the birds and wind and there you have an answer in His stillness.

When I meditated on this word, there was such a relief, and there is a relief that you can experience, when you allow God to fight for you to handle the situation, to work on the hearts of those around you.

Psalm 5:8 states, “Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies, make your way straight before me.”

God will make every crooked path straight. He will lead you and guide you on the path of insight and discretion. You can take refuge in Him knowing that the very thing you were worried about He has taken care of. He will surround you with favor like a shield, that your heart will flow joy and your soul can be at peace.

John 10:9 states, “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.”

Do you know that you have a Good Shepherd?

God has everything you could possibly need. He is the author of your very life. He’s holding you, comforting you, teaching you, guiding you by His Holy Spirit. Will you surrender? Will you forgive? Will you actually allow joy to overflow through you? Will you choose life and vitality?

It is in the choices we make every day. One thing I realized is that people are going to be people. It is in the very nature of humans. However, what you decide to do can either break you or build you. As moms, we have little ones watching our every move, our reaction, our responses, and they need our love, our comfort, our care. The only way to give that and cultivate a healthy environment is to choose to heal, to choose to be made whole. To choose joy and embrace the green pastures.

I hope this has encouraged you today. In what ways are you embracing God’s path for you, His green pastures? Write it out and meditate it. Click here for a journal to start: https://amzn.to/4cxGzZf
