After a late sporting event for my son, I found myself exhausted, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I crawled into bed at 1 a.m., knowing if I didn’t clean the kitchen that night, I’d regret it in the morning. And we all know how vital a morning routine is.
But sleep didn’t come easy. I tossed and turned, reflecting on everything I had taken on: a long week at work, preparing my son for his game, cooking beforehand, the energy of the crowd, and even sitting with him to watch his favorite YouTuber afterward. It was… a lot.
And in that moment, I realized something important: sometimes, the most transformative thing you can do for yourself, and your family is to simply hit pause.
Hitting pause doesn’t mean ignoring responsibilities. It means taking intentional steps to regulate, reframe, and realign your spirit, soul, and body. Here’s how I did it, and how you can, too.
Step One: Regulate Your Spirit, Soul and Body
Start by pausing and reflecting on everything you’ve done. Celebrate the wins, acknowledge the effort, and forgive yourself for what didn’t go perfectly. Hydrate. Breathe deeply. Let your body and mind catch up.
Regulation isn’t just about slowing down; it’s about creating space to notice what you need and prevent burnout before it takes over.
Step Two: Reframe Your Thoughts with God’s Word
Life gets overwhelming. Social media, work, household responsibilities, parenting, all of it can feel like a storm.
Before you spiral, reframe your inner conversation. Speak God’s Word over your life. Let scripture fill you with energy, courage, and clarity. This isn’t a one-time practice, it’s a daily reset that nourishes your spirit from the inside out.
Step Three: Realign Your Life for Balance
Once you’ve regulated and reframed, it’s time to realign. Ask yourself:
What can I delegate this week?
What can I say no to without guilt?
When can I intentionally rest and refill my energy?
Take one small step today toward creating a schedule and life that prioritizes both your responsibilities and your well-being. Small, intentional changes compound into big transformations.
The Power of Pause
Stepping away from screens, stepping into nature, and embracing stillness isn’t indulgent, it’s essential. It reconnects you to yourself, your purpose, and the people you love most.
Hitting pause is not a luxury. It’s a spiritual, emotional, and mental lifeline. When you give yourself permission to rest, reflect, and reset, you show up more fully for your family, your work, and your own growth.
I hope this encourages you to hit pause today, even for a few moments. Regulate. Reframe. Realign. And know that every intentional step you take brings you closer to the balance, peace, and transformation you deserve. Be Blessed.
