How To Stop The Everyday Rush As A Mom

You Are Enough

Let’s talk about how to stop the everyday rush as a mom. The hustle and bustle of making sure everything gets done can sometimes put us in auto-pilot. It is like the alarm sounds, we throw the sheets off and rush to our little ones to prepare them for school. It is a great routine, however, how can we limit the rushing and enjoy the morning experience?

I had a week like this where I felt the rush as a mom! I forgot to set my second alarm if I missed the first one, and I heard my son say, “mom” and I immediately woke up and saw that it was after 7am, when we were supposed to be in the car rider line 20 or so minutes before.

I felt this rush and guilt to scramble and grab a quick breakfast for him as he rushed to get ready and the things he needed for the day. Oh my goodness, and the part that got me was when he was sitting in the car with me with the long line of people, I guess who also woke up late that morning, and the loud statement “Okay, we’re here”. As I drove off I began to ponder, “did I kiss him on the cheek” “did I give him a hug” “did I pray with him”. Everything was so fast and rushed I didn’t even have time to think.

Do you realize that these situations happen more than we actually expect? Even over the week, I felt I was just rushing to different destinations for my errands, not really paying attention to anything else outside of getting there, and getting what I need.

I sat with this for a couple of days and pondered on it. It all starts with the mind. We can strive so much to be the best everything to people while we are not taking time to ask ourselves what we need. In all of this, I realized that I am enough. God created me with everything I needed in mind.

You Are Enough

I know that we can feel as if we are alone or that so much is required from us in our everyday life. We feel we rush as a mom to get things done. It is a beautiful thing to be needed and to also be in such overflow that it is not taking anything away from your peace and joy. You Are ENOUGH.

Reflection

The word of God says in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s own handiwork (His workmanship) recreated in Christ Jesus, born anew, that we may do those good works which God predestined, planned beforehand for us taking paths which He prepared ahead of time, that we should walk in them, living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live.” AMPC

We were created with purpose and in purpose. There is a need for you in the hands of God. It is important to take care of you so that you can take care of what God has given you to steward over. Even if in your eyes it seems like the simplest things.

God Knows What You Need

In Philippians 4:19, it states, “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.” MSG

God supplies everything you need, there is no need to worry. He gives strength when you’re weak. He gives joy in sorrow. He gives abundance in lack. He gives grace to endure. So why would we worry about the things of tomorrow? We don’t need to always rush as a mom. Why let fear creep in and breed stress when we have little ones looking up to us?  Walk in assurance and know that God is fighting for you, that you can hold peace. Exodus 14:14.

Helpful Tips:

  1. Prepare the night before. Whatever it is you need to do, go ahead and prepare in advance. If you know the kiddos have events at school or even preparation for the next day of school, go ahead and knock it out. Get the lunch box together, the folder, the outfits done the night before. When it comes to events, prepare a week in advance so that the presentation is of quality and not of rushed work.
  2. Before you step out of bed, declare over your day, have a scripture in mind that you speak out and meditate on as you go through your morning and day. Give thanks to God ahead of time for who He is and the good news He is bringing your way.
  3. Be present, the moment you feel that rush creeping in, stop and take a moment to breathe and look around and decide to be present. Decide to place your attention on what you are doing at the moment, not what you have to do later on or your to do list, or where you have to go later that evening.

I pray this has been helpful to you. In what ways are you cutting out the rush of your everyday life? Write it out and meditate on it.
