Let’s talk about a grateful heart. I was in the kitchen cooking breakfast, and I began to realize that oftentimes we can always be in prayer for something, rather it is praying for someone, yourself or open doors, whatever it is, but how often do we just thank God, not asking for anything, but just thankful.
As I begin to pray, I begin to speak aloud the psalm of David in Ch 103, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” As I began to pray, I began to just thank God for all he has done for me with a grateful heart. I reflected on the people he has placed on my path to help me and to support me.
It is easy to overlook those things because of entitlement or we think these are small things. I began to realize that not all people, especially single moms have help and support. We make decisions everyday based on our little ones and the needs of the household. Always finding something productive for them to do to stay active or ensure they are being educated well.
When you begin to humble yourself, you realize how much help you actually need and think of those people who were just there for you. They gave their time and resources to be of help to you. These are things to reflect when having a grateful heart.

Oftentimes I reflect and say how can I progress with so much responsibility on one person. The things that I want to do sometimes have to wait because of the different responsibilities that I have. Deciding is it worth doing this when I have this to do, it can take a toll on a person. It is important to ensure no matter what, that you are cultivating a loving and nurturing environment for your child. Whether you have a little or you have a lot, to ensure that your child is happy and that you are providing a safe space for them to grow and thrive. Be present, be loving, be caring and be a good listener for them. They need you. Instill in them the things of God so as they grow older they will not depart from them.
I just wanted to encourage you today, be thankful. Look around and take introspection of your life and find something to just be grateful for today. Have a grateful heart, thanking God for who He is to you and to your children.
