Welp, I told myself this year I would be more present in my son’s school activities. That I would participate in after school events and help donate whenever needed. The school had an event and I was soooo tired when I got off, that I was hoping that my son forgot. Well, you know children don’t forget when it comes to something they really want to do!
I mustered up some energy and attended, but instantly I felt a little uneasy. Have you ever just felt someone staring at you and you look and they were actually staring at you? So uncomfortable right? I left the event just examining me and my son like why was that so odd. I was hard on myself because I am such a homebody, I love being home, tending to my garden and minding my business, and I tried to assure myself, like, “see that’s why you don’t go out,” that’s why you stay to yourself”.
However, I realized that light is meant to shine bright no matter what type of environment you walk into. I’m reminded of the bible verse in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
I also reminded myself that it is important to focus on excellent things, things that are pure, above, things that are honest. Sometimes we can project what we feel on other people. If you feel out of place, people will pick up on that and give you space.
That is also why the word of God states, to show yourself friendly. That could be a gentle smile or an introduction as you walk into a room, to compliment. I am working on this as well because oftentimes what we formulate in our mind concerning a person could be from trauma and not what is actually happening.
We are the light of the world, a town on a hill that can not be hidden(Matthew 5:14). Therefore, show up in your personal spaces, work space, business, ministry in the boldness of Christ Jesus. Showing yourself friendly, radiating the light of Christ. You may not know who needs your kind words, smile or encouragement.
I hope this has blessed you today. In what ways are you radiating the light of Christ in your life?
