Praying Over Your Children

There was a moment I had over one weekend where I felt such sadness after observing the behavior of another child with my own. My son had just hyped himself up all morning regarding events that happened earlier in the week, and we went out and encountered another child who proceeded to knock his excitement, and began to push and shove him and hit him on the head and discourage him.

I spoke to my child at that moment and reminded him of who he is and not to let another person invade his personal space nor put their hands on him. He stated he understood, but I was so disappointed and realized that as parents we have to speak life over our children everyday. Ensuring that we are praying over them and encouraging them and declaring God’s promises over their lives.

They may not quite understand why or what we are doing in the moment, but as they begin to mature they will cherish these moments and they will be reminders for them even when they go through disappointments or hard times.

I am a witness to my parents loving and caring and praying for me. They reminded me of God’s word and promises and lived upright as they trained me up that my heart would be devoted to God.

I want to share these bible verses with you, that you can begin to pray and declare them over your children, that it begins to be a meditation upon their heart and a song in their spirit. Be Blessed!

“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” Numbers 6:24

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” Psalm 91:11

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6

“I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.” Isaiah 45:2

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yeah I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid, for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2
