You Are Enough

When I tell you, I’ve been in deep thought these past few days. Oftentimes, we are so bombarded by different beauty standards and advertisements of products and services and sometimes we think that if we do this and that somehow it will rid us of all insecurities.

After a few 100s of dollars you realize it didn’t work. Beauty starts within, it starts with your mindset and how you think and feel about yourself. It is casting down vain imaginations of what the enemy tries to plant and distort in your mind and taking captive every single thought and subjecting it to the obedience of Christ Jesus. WHO DOES GOD SAY I AM. Do you know?

The word of God states, people perish because of lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). How can you combat demonic seeds and fiery darts sent from the enemy if you do not know who God says you are?

I’ve realized that I have to love myself first before I can love anyone else because if I don’t know how to love myself, how can I then receive love from another? It’s the harsh truth, but the truth shall make you free.

I had a moment where I was dibbin and dabbin in new things, and decided to try clip-ins. Meanwhile, I’m a salon girlie, like me doing my hair on my own, ain’t it! However, I was like hmmm I can manage clip ins.. I was wrong. I was clipping them in, wand curling, flat ironing, blow drying along with my hair. I had such a wake up call when I went to get my hair done for silk press and she said, “we are going to have to cut your hair due to heat damage”, but God had already prepared me so it wasn’t a BIG shock, and I came out with a new natural look.

That is to say, do what makes you feel good and do what makes you more healthy and gives you rest, especially for the mamas. That doesn’t mean try everything you see online. It means sitting and learning yourself, studying the word of God and surrendering your plans, yes, even your health and beauty maintenance.

I’m reminded of the bible verse in Psalm 139:17, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God; how great is the sum of them. If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.” God loves us and even says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, intricately knit together in our mother’s womb. He thought about every feature, every strand of hair, every birthmark. His thoughts for us are more than we can even count. Do you believe that in your heart? How wonderful you are. I’m here to tell you that you are more than enough. You are not defined by the world’s standards, by your friends’ opinions, or even by your family’s opinion. You are who God says you are. Fearfully and Wonderfully made, respected, honored, set apart, distinct.

Be encouraged today, and take time to meditate on the word of God, allow it to be a meditation of your heart, and journal out what comes up for you. Be Blessed!
