How To Grow Your Confidence

Sometimes the to-do list and plans we make look really good on paper until it is time to execute. It is easy to make up excuses on why we don’t feel like doing what we need to do on any given day.

I began to reflect on this after I made a hair appointment for 9am on a Saturday morning and the commute was an hour. I laid in bed early that morning and said, “why would I do this to myself?” Saturday of all days; I usually work during the week, but I did not expect to get my hair soaked in chlorine water the weekend before, so my hair had to be done. So I got up; prayed, made coffee, got dressed and completed the task.

This is just one example. I realized that keeping your commitments to yourself builds confidence. Confidence is knowing that you are capable, having reliance and assurance, to be sure of yourself and your capabilities. When we put our full trust in God, he will give us the strength to fulfill any task before us, He will empower you to be consistent and you will begin to experience His security and boldness will begin to grow within you.

I am reminded of the scripture in Jeremiah 17:7, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.” It is important for you to acknowledge what you do well everyday and remind yourself what God says about you.

God knows exactly what you need, and the timing in which to manifest it in your life. Be diligent in prayer, acknowledging Him in all your ways, decisions, choices, ideas, relationships, careers, business and ministry. Ephesians 3:12 states, “In him and through faith in him; we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” We are daughters of the Most High God. He is our Father and very present help. It is important that we approach the throne of grace in boldness, knowing that God knows exactly what we need and what is best for us.
